Müller, Prof. Alejandro J.

Alejandro J. Müller is a Materials Engineer with an MSc in Chemistry (IVIC, Caracas, Venezuela) and a PhD in Physics (Bristol University, England). He is an IKERBASQUE Research Professor since Sept. 2013 at POLYMAT and Visiting Professor at The Faculty of Chemistry, Basque Country University UPV/EHU in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain. Prof. Müller is an Emeritus Professor from Simón Bolívar University (Caracas, Venezuela). He has co-authored more 300 papers published in peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Science Citation Index. He has supervised 90 BSc, 55 MSc and 18 PhD theses. He has won several prizes in Venezuela, including the Lorenzo Mendoza Fleury Prize from Fundación Polar. In 2011 he received the International “Paul J. Flory Polymer Research Prize”. Prof. Müller has given 77 keynote, plenary and invited conferences in scientific events in more than 25 countries. He has obtained an h index of 57 and more than 10000 citations. His research interests include: polymer solution rheology, morphology, nucleation, crystallization and crystallization kinetics of semi-crystalline polymers and multiphasic materials (i.e., blends, block and random copolymers, biopolymers and nanocomposites). He is a corresponding member of the Venezuelan Academy of Engineering and Habitat and editor for the Elsevier journal POLYMER (IF: 3.483, Q1). In the year 2012 he participated in an international competition call by the Basque Science Foundation (IKERBASQUE) and won a permanent position as Research Professor. Since Sept. 2013, he works at the UPV/EHU (Polymat and Faculty of Chemistry) in Donostia-San Sebastián. In the year 2014, he founded the ADVANCED MULTIPHASIC POLYMERS (AMP) group and joined the Polymat Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering. The AMP group has been awarded 20 research projects in the past 4 years, obtaining research funds from the Basque Government, MINECO, UPV/EHU, Ikerbasque, FEDER INTERREG (UE-H2020), BASF, EDF and FEDER-RISE (UE-H2020).
